Ask EnjoyTheEnjoyment: Who's Ryan Feierabend?

Q: Who's this guy Ryan Feierabend who's starting today?
A: He was the M's third round draft pick in 2003, out of a Cleveland-area high school. He was born in 1985.

Q: Wow, I'm old, aren't I?
A: Yes.

Q: Is Feierabend any good?
A: In five minor league seasons, he's 30-31 with an ERA just under four. This year he's 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA at Tacoma.

Q: So is this his first major league start?
A: No, he started two games for the M's last August. He was neither terrific nor horrible.

Q: What does he throw?
A: A fastball, slider, curve and change. He's very comfortable with his change, even behind in the count, according to this 2004 interview w/Scout.com (you have to pay them $$ to read it in full).

Q: Is "Feierabend" the longest last name ever for a Mariner pitcher?
A: No, not unless the M's expunged Erik Plantenberg from the record books.
