If the quacking noise on their home page doesn't convert you to Long Island Ducks fandom, this surely will. Former Mariners Carl Everett and John Halama are among those miserable few who shake their tailfeathers at Central Islip's Citibank Park.
Everett, touts the Ducks' site, "enters his 18th season of professional baseball, his first in the Atlantic League." Yes, he finally made it to the top. But he may not be there long--Everett's hitting .186 with no extra base hits.
Halama, the 12th-winningest pitcher in Mariner history, is faring better, he's 1-1 with a 4.37 ERA in four starts.
Among Everett and Halama's teammates on the Duck pond, presumably a feeder of the River Styx, are Pete Rose, Jr., Danny Graves, Edgardo Alfonzo, and a third ex-Mariner, Mark Watson, who appeared in three games for the 2002 M's.
Other ex-Mariners in the Atlantic League are Quinton McCracken (Bridgeport Bluefish) and Ben Davis, who's now the Camden Riversharks' catcher of the future.

Do you think this league loves me enough to sign Greg Pirkl? Do you think that if I saved up enough money, I could just sign Greg Pirkl to hang out around my house, watch movies with me, play hide and seek?
Actually I think I could afford the signing fee but the weekly pork bills would ruin me.
we have an independent league team where i live. there is nothing sadder than listening to those guys at the bar, talk about how they shoulda been playing for the yankees except for all the coke and hookers. sad.
