Oh God, Not WallyWorld

SI.com says that there's a deal on the table where the Sonics would send Ray Allen to the Celtics for the #5 pick and Wally Szczerbiak. You hate Wally Szczerbiak for scoring 43 points against the Huskies in the 1999 tourney. We hate him for the same reason. WallyWorld in green and gold? Ew.

Who would be the target at #5? Yi? Brandan Wright? Noah?

I heard this one this morning and it makes no sense.

If true, and it seems to be, dumbest idea since...Brick? Trading for Ewing?

Besides, there's another reason to hate Szerbiak: Underachiever.

Haha! It wouldn't be that bad :). By the way, when you write new blog posts, go over to BeTheRef.com and post a link to your story, and hopefully get a few extra readers for your blog.

Personally, I like the move. The team gets two productive players and a high draft pick for an uber-expensive, aging, shooter who can't play D and just underwent surgery on both his ankles. I really wish they would have used the pick on Yi, but Jeff Green should be an effective pro, if not perennial all-star. The real question going forth is what they're going to do with the logjam they have at small forward. Convert Wally/Green/Durant to a 2 guard? Or maybe package Wally or Green in a Lewis sign-and-trade? I also would have loved to see them use their second round pick on Fazekas, as I think he has considerable more upside than Landry and Hollinger's draft formula loves him (7th overall). Had Seattle taken Durant, Yi, and Fazekas I think five years from now we could be looking back and calling this haul one of the best ever. All-in-all I would say it was a good, but not great, draft day for the Sonics.

I feel better about it now that I've stopped hyperventilating. Years of not trusting the front office has now become a knee-jerk response...That and the lack of a head coach, plus the owner looking to relocate, and now a lack of leadership at the wheel.

Where's that paper bag?
