Did Aaron Brooks Flash "Crips" on ESPN?

Via Deadspin, via 100% Injury Rate, here's the video. The alleged gang sign comes at about the 1:00 mark.

Decide for yourself, but I'll say this--even if that sign is, as has been suggested in 100% Injury Rate's comments, "the hand sign for the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity," "a sign that [Oregon players] make to show support for the team," or "the OK sign," I think Brooks would be wise to keep it under wraps if he's competing in a three-point contest at say, Crenshaw High. Or, for that matter, his own alma mater of Franklin, where there's never been any lack of gang activity.

And if, for the sake of argument, Brooks is a member of the Crips--does that mean Ryan Appleby might be Blood?

If anything...

it's definitely NOT the Crips. His fingers can be read as "CK," which would mean "Crip Killer," i.e. claiming Bloods.

You mean I've been doing it wrong all these years? That explains a lot.

Just to clarify, I don't think Aaron Brooks is a gang member, whether Blood or Crip. (A guy I know got a flat on Rainier...who stopped by to help him out but Aaron Brooks & his father.) I just think it's amusing that the original accuser got the damn sign wrong.

Abudai, I don't think he's a gang member either, but I think you may wrong on this one. Check out this crip sign pic. It's identical to the one Brooks flashed.

Good find. I was using the bottom part of this link:

http://www.slsheriff.org/html/org/metrogang/gangsign.html

Which is linked to from the bottom of the 100% injury rate posting on Brooks.

Maybe there are subtle differences in the signs that I don't see. Or maybe they're exactly the same...sort of a Salem witch trial test for gang members. If you flash it and you die, than you're a thug4life.
