The fact that Jarrod Washburn went out for the ninth inning last night illustrated one way that life is McLarenVille will differ from that in HargroveTown: the starting pitchers will go deeper into games.
Dr. Nata over at Detect-o-Vision found another, from quotes he says Ichiro and Johjima gave to Japanese reporters after McLaren's first game as manager.
Ichiro: "There was a play (in the game) with a certain intention. A play we did not have for 2 years."
Johjima: "After the loss nobody smiled or laughed in the dugout."
Laughing after losses is something that bothered Ichiro last year. Evidently, in Ichiro and Johjima's minds, the team is more focused on winning with McLaren at the helm.
