NY Post: Knicks to Release Dan Dickau

The New York Post's Marc Berman reports that the Knicks will release former Husky and Zags guard Dan Dickau soon.

Dickau has been traded eight times in his peripatetic NBA career, and has suited up for the Hawks, Blazers (two tours), Mavericks, Hornets and Celtics.

He was the Hornets' starting point guard in '04-'05, and averaged 13.2 ppg and 5.2 apg.

Somebody who knows Dickau's sister (I think) told me at a party a while ago that he's sick of being a bench player and wants to go to Europe so at least he can play. No idea if that's true, can't remember who told me, but it makes sense.

Dickau, who came to the Knicks in the Zach Randolph trade, would be competing with Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford, Fred Jones, and Knicks second-round pick Demetris Nichols for minutes, and his agent doesn't sound like he'll be torn up if the Knicks let him go.

"We've talked, and Isiah is going to do the right thing and help him if it's not going to work out with the Knicks," Dickau's agent Mark Bartlestein told the Post.
