Hope Solo, the former UW goalie with a 300 minute scoreless streak who was benched before the US Women's World Cup semifinal with Brazil, only to see Brazil win 4-0, isn't hiding her feelings.
"It was the wrong decision and anyone who knows anything about the game knows that," Solo said in a TV interview after the game. "There's no doubt in my mind I would have made those saves."
Her coach, John McLaren Greg Ryan, gave 36-year-old Brianna Scurry the start instead, and when asked about his decision after the game (video), said "I don't think that move affected the game. Bri gives us the best chance to make that save...she's so quick."
So you picked the 36-year-old because of her quickness? Ummmm....
Solo, according to her MySpace page, went to Richland High and the UW. Evergreen State, don't take this depredation lying down! To China! With pitchforks!
