Seattle Sports: In the Morning

A's hit grand slams off Ramirez in the 2nd, Rowland-Smith in the 9th, M's lose 9-3. It was only the 2nd time in the 106-year history of the A's that they've hit two slams in a game.

Larry Stone points out that the M's only two wins in this slide have come off of pitchers (Clemens, Bonderman) who left with elbow pain and haven't pitched since.

Every strikeout in tonight's game will benefit Barry Zito's foundation to support wounded troops. Unfortunately for them, Richie Sexson's still out with a hamstring injury.

Husky CB Roy Lewis is the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week.

I just bought a ticket for the Ohio State game. With processing fees, blah, blah, it was $79. There are about 3,000 tix left, but before long the only ones remaining will be view-obstructed, so if you don't want to be at the mercy of scalpers or behind a stanchion, get thee to the Husky online ticket office.

DJ Hackett's out at least a month with a high ankle sprain.

On that severely injured Bills player: Hawks rookie Baraka Atkins was his roommate at U Miami.

The Niners beat the Cardinals in an ugly game. Alex Smith threw for only 126 yards.

Clay Bennett won't be able to break the Sonics' lease without suing the city--that's the ramification of a measure passed yesterday by the Seattle City Council.

Not only is Orlando Pace out for the season, but Rams RG Richie Incognito will miss as least one and possibly more weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Someone will, once again, pay Calvin Booth to play "basketball" next season.
