Seattle Sports: In the Morning

Cha Seung Baek makes his case for a spot in the '08 rotation, M's win 4-2.

Joel Pineiro threw eight innings of scoreless, three-hit ball and beat Pedro Martinez and the Mets last night, putting them in a tie with the Phils. Since he came to the Cards, Pineiro is 6-4, 3.96 in 11 starts.

Bavasi and McLaren will both return. I hope they don't take away my blog because of this, but I think it's the right move.

The Everett Herald's Kirby Arnold presents, word-by-word, his 15-minute conversation with Howard Lincoln yesterday.

Eric Williams of TNT has the latest on Seattle's lawsuit against the Sonics.

This retrospective of the hair of Corliss Williamson is a must read.

Brandon Roy's heel is giving him trouble again. By my count he still has 82 games left to play this season.

Roy tells Andy Katz what he thinks of this year's Husky team.

Frank Hughes of TNT says contract talks with Marcus "The Inconvenient Truf" Trufant are at a standstill; the massive contract that Nate Clements got has thrown everything off kilter.

USC is 20-21-2 all-time in the rain, and 1-3-1 in Seattle, reports the Times' Bob Condotta.

Art Thiel has a fascinating story about former All-Pac-10 Husky LB Tim Meamber, star of the 1985 Orange Bowl team, who, pretty much since then, has been a crack addict. He's clean (for now, add longtime friends) and trying to start a business.

Two Husky receiver recruits who were expected to help out this year won't play until next year (if at all). The Huskies top four receivers are all seniors.

The Times' Matt Massey profiles Sounders owner Adrian Hanauer (no relation to Chip) who heads a group trying to get an MLS team here in '09.

The Sounders, incidentally, play for the MLS championship Saturday at 7pm at Starfire in Tukwila.

The five Garfield football players--four of whom are starters--who were suspended for two games after being arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery, will play today against Eastlake. Bull-DOGS!
