Mike Cameron tested positive--twice--for a banned stimulant, and he's suspended for the first 25 games of 2008.
Cammy's explanation was that he took a "tainted supplement," which, while an improvement on the old "I didn't know what I was taking" excuse, is still completely bogus.
I really like Cameron, hope he hasn't done any permanent damage to his body in addition to the damage he's done to his reputation. But this doesn't surprise me at all.
The sooner you accept that pretty much everyone in baseball was hopped up on something from, say, 1999-2002, and that players will keep taking supplements to lengthen their careers, the happier you will be.
Cameron joins Ryan Franklin as among the players from that record-setting 2001 M's team who've been suspended for drug violations. And I think we can be reasonably sure that they weren't the only ones.
I think that the Mitchell investigation will prove that Giants fans were hardly the only ones rooting for a drug abuser.
