New Polls Are Out

The new polls are out, and USC's dropped to #10 in the AP poll and #7 in the coaches' (USA Today) poll. Also, in the AP poll, the Huskies doubled their votes! They are up to two votes!

In other Pac-10 news:

Cal is #2 in both polls. They were #3 in both last week.

Only a week after losing their first game, Oregon gets into the top ten for the first time. They are #9 in AP, #8 in USA Today.

Arizona State moves into the top fifteen, they are #14 in AP and #13 in USA Today.

In the AP poll, Washington is the only other Pac-10 team listed, with two votes. In the USA Today poll, both Stanford (4) and UCLA (2) get votes, but not the Dawgs.

That's what happens when you get a bye week, I guess. The Pac-10 has never been so wide open, although I don't think this is the Huskies' year to step in and capitalize. A three-way tie between Cal, Oregon and USC is completely possible, though.

Yeah, the Huskies are toast with two Pac-10 losses already...

Here are the Pac-10 tiebreaking procedures in case of the three-way tie you mentioned...

The "the teams most recently earning Rose Bowl or Bowl Championship Series automatic selection shall be eliminated" selection rule used to be higher in the pecking order didn't it?

(I always found it to be a quaint selection method apt for college football... another thing the BCS has destroyed...)
