Nor Are the Second Halves of Seasons Ty Willingham's Happy Place

A commenter on my post about how Willingham's teams do in the second half of games suggested that he thought Willingham does worse in the second half of seasons. So I checked it out.

For seasons where there were an even number of games, I divided the season into two equal parts. For seasons with an odd number of games, I simply disregarded the middle game.

The better half of each season (if there was one) is highlighted in yellow.

So, as you can see, Willingham's teams do, in fact, do better in the first half of the season.

In seven seasons the first half's been better than the second, and in only three years has it been the opposite.

Here's the whole spreadsheet if you want to check it out.

Yeah, but don't most major college teams do better in the first half? The patsies are usually scheduled for September, not November.

It's actually four years if you look at 2003.
