Seattle Sports: In the Morning

NBC showed a closeup of Holmgren's playcard during Sunday's telecast, I captured a good image of it from my HD Tivo.

Hawks starting DT Chuck Darby is out for the year with a torn patella tendon. 3rd-round pick Brandon Mebane will take his starting spot.

Holmgren is not happy with Nate Burleson, who cut off a route, leading to an interception.

Former M's Yorvit Torrealba and Brian Fuentes are headed to the World Series after the Rockies beat the D-Backs last night. There's only one OcTOber!

Ichiro made the Sporting News AL All-Star team for the third time. It's voted on by players and managers.

The M's will announce their new coaching staff soon. Sam Perlozzo, Lee Elia, and Jim Colborn are considered likely candidates, and Norm Charlton's a lock, reports the P-I's John Hickey. Larry Larue of TNT agrees about Charlton, but says these are the candidates: Jim Riggleman, Mel Stottlemyre, Larry Bowa, Eddie Rodriguez.

Former Zags Derek Raivio and Sean Mallon are playing in Germany: Raivio for first-division Koeln (here's a photo) and Mallon for second-division Dusseldorf.

The P-I's Jim Moore says: Fire Doba.
