From Monday night...
#13 Oregon 97, Western Michigan 88 [box]: The Ducks won a Detroit derby (Malik Hairston and Tajuan Porter are natives). I'm going to keep watching Porter's stats in non-conference play. So far they are wildly inconsistent. After putting up 28 points in his last game, yesterday Porter had two assists and two turnovers, and only six points. Hairston shouldered the scoring load, going for a career-high 29. Here's something that was news to me--Nico Fearn of Seattle Prep is on the Oregon roster.
#2 UCLA 83, Youngstown State 52 [box]: Kevin Love led the way again for the Bruins with 21 points, including a three-pointer. The guy is a beast, and I can't even begin to describe the hurt he would put on Robert Swift if the two ever went one-on-one. It would be like watching a briefcase wrestle a tiger. The Bruins out-rebounded Youngstown State 49-25. You can see highlights here.
Tonight: N. Arizona at #17 Arizona; #9 Wazzu at Boise St.; Idaho at #14 Gonzaga; N.J.I.T at Washington.
Wednesday: Southern Miss. at Cal, Utah or High Point at Washington.
Thursday: USC at Citadel, #20 Stanford at Northwestern, Colo. St. at Oregon St.
