Cougar Coach Speculation

Let's divide the speculation over who will be the next Wazzu football coach into two categories--Wishful Thinking and Actual Prediction.

In the wishful thinking category, we've got former Wazzu coach and current broadcaster Jim Walden telling the P-I he thinks Eastern Washington coach Paul Wulff would be a good choice. Jim Moore suggests Rick Neuheisel, and I don't think he's being facetious.

In the actual prediction world, Bud Withers examines probably the most-rumored choice: Mike Price. Cal coach Bob Gregory (def. coord.) and Jim Michalczik (O-line) are candidates. Former Michigan State coach John L. Smith is interested, as is Husky offensive coordinator Tim Lappano. The Sporting News has a list of candidates that includes many people I've never heard of, but also includes deposed ASU coach Dirk Koetter, current Rams coach Scott Linehan, and Boise State coach/brass balls possessor Chris Peterson. The Seattle Times has a similar list with a few different names, including Fresno State coach Pat Hill.
