Josh Brown Pwnes Devin Hester

Yesterday, Josh Brown made what is perhaps the best non-kicking play by a kicker in NFL history when he tacked Devin Hester on a kickoff.

This was not a backpedaling trip-up of a guy about to take it to the house, this was a legitimate coverage tackle at the Bears' 27-yard line.

Here's Brown corralling Hester...

Here's Hester on the ground...

And here's Brown's celebration, which FOX announcer Matt Vasgerian called "WWE-style." I think it's funny that Brown celebrates by raising his arms in the traditional "FG good" signal, as if that's the only way he knows how to.

When I ran this in slo-mo, I saw that not only did Brown make the tackle, he very nearly stripped Hester (in that first photo, you can see Brown's hand about to hit the ball).

If anyone can think of a better non-kicking play by a kicker than tackling the NFL's all-time record holder for touchdown returns in a season, please, enlighten me.

That alone might make Hester drop-worthy on my fantasy team.

Anyone have video evidence? I was surprised this didn't make it onto the highlights.

Anyone read the Michael Lewis article on place-kicking in the most recent Play magazine? He implies that Vinatieri might not have a job right now if he hadn't made an impressive tackle on a kick-off early in his career. Guess tackling is the only way for kickers to earn some street cred.

Last year, Josh Brown put a hit on the Denver Bronco kick returner that legitimately should have had a spot on Tom Jackson's "Jacked Up." Unfortunately for Josh, Tom Jackson is a former Bronco.

Didn't Josh Brown have a hand in forcing a fumble last season?
