Sonics lost to the Lakers, 106-99. Durant had 25 points. Sonics are 2-13, they play 13-3 Orlando (and Rashard Lewis) tonight at Key Arena.
Nick Collison took an elbow to the nose. It may be a break. He won't play tonight.
Steve Kelley jumps on the Jim Mora Jr. bandwagon. Did I mention I saw a guy at the Apple Cup wearing a Jim Mora, Jr. BUTTON? It's almost like Husky nation is divided into political parties.
John McGrath thinks that if the Huskies get blown out by Hawaii, that will be it for Willingham.
The Seattle Times' preseason high school boys basketball rankings are out. #1 in 4A is defending champ Ferris, #1 in 3A is Rainier Beach.
Lute Olson, on indefinite leave because of a personal matter he won't discuss, showed up for a practice on Monday, but he's still not ready to start coaching in games.

Wow. The Kelley commentary is blunt. He makes very good points. I also heard (and I know I'll screw these numbers up, but they're close) that in the history of college football, there have been 1832 coaches at current BCS schools. Of those, only 242 have had equal or worse records than Willingham in their first three seasons. Of those, only 69 were brought back for a fourth year. Of those, only 4 won 60% or more of their games in year four. Yikes. 4! I wouldn't bet on that horse. Make the change now. Do it after another disappointing year and you're looking wasting another season of the Locker era.
I'm really a little bit disturbed by this part of the column.
"[Willingham] is stiff with his players..."
That's simply disgusting. Maybe Willingham needs to stop wearing track pants?
In college football, you have to let a coach get his players in place before you judge his performance. That's why you need to give Willingham a chance next season. He got a late start to recruiting, which cost him a year. If the talent improves and the record doesn't, or the talent doesn't improve (hardly possible, this team had very little talent), fire Ty.
Firing a coach for not winning with one of the most overmatched teams in Washington history would be shortsighted.
Keep Ty for year four:
Let's remember that the secondary would all have one year of eligibility left if they were in Menudo.
That blown coverage on the losing play in the Apple Cup was bad coaching, bad playing and a tip-of-the-hat to Brink for finding the seam... I mean gaping hole.
Next year, new players will come in and challenge for the secondary positions.
Thank you very much for this useful article. I like it.
