Seattle Sports: Over the Weekend

Thoughts on the Husky loss to Oregon State.

The Sonics lost twice, 103-101 to the Jazz and 107-103 to the Pistons.

Neither Shaun Alexander or Deion Branch will play tonight.

In the 4A state football tournament, Oak Harbor, Bothell, Graham-Kapowsin, Ferris, Lewis & Clark, Inglemoor, Eastlake, and Edmonds-Woodway advanced to the quarterfinals.

In the 3A tournament, Skyline won the big #1 vs. #2 showdown vs. Lakes. O'Dea, Meadowdale, Bellevue, Southridge, Kennewick, Franklin Pierce and Ferndale also won.

The head coach of New Jersey Institute of Technology, the Huskies' opponent in their Tuesday opener, took an indefinite leave for health reasons.

49ers coach Mike Nolan's dad died Sunday. Nolan will still coach the Niners tonight. His dad, Dick, who coached the Niners himself from 1968-75, would surely have wanted it that way.
