Seattle Sports: In the Morning

Deion Branch is "expected" to play on Saturday. Says Holmgren: "I think Branch is going to be able to practice some." It would be only the fourth game all year that all four top receivers have been healthy.

Green Bay ticket brokers say tix for Saturday's playoff game are selling for less than some regular season games: "A lot of season ticket holders either would like to cash in on the extra money after the holidays or they just flat out don't want to go in the cold weather," one tells a Milwaukee TV station. You can get a ticket for about $200.

Saturday's announcers: Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston and, from the sideline, Tony Siragusa. Good thing I hardly ever listen to the announcers.

Patrick Kerney was a distant second to Bob Sanders in voting for NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Jason Churchill of Prospect Insider says the M's and Orioles are close to a deal that would send George Sherrill, Adam Jones, and super-prospect Carlos Triunfel for Eric Bedard. Such a deal might cause the USS Mariner people to finally just up and quit on the team. I'm not sure how much stock to put in what Churchill says, he's the guy who claimed Adam Jones was coming up at the All-Star break, but it never happened.

Paul Allen tells the Times' Brier Dudley what he thinks about the Sonics situation: "In a medium and small market, unless you have a great facility, which we do have in the Rose Garden in Portland, it's a tough situation for ownership there. You've got to have a better facility."

Three new scholarship players (including two receivers! yay!) enrolled at UW yesterday. Meanwhile, Brandon Gibson of Wazzu, who led the Pac-10 in receiving yards last year, will return for his senior season. Gibson had been thinking about jumping to the NFL.

Luke Ridnour can't play because his quad keeps knotting up on him, and the Sonics aren't sure when he'll be able to play again.

That is a little unfair, Seth. Jason reported was he was told about Jones coming up. And if I remember correctly, he reported that Jones was to be called up the Thursday following the All-Star break, which would have been July 12.

Obviously, he was not called up on the 12th, but to say "it never happened" is just unfair.

Jones was called up August 1, less than three weeks later, and played in his first game on August 3rd.

So to doubt Jason's credibility for that is really quite unreasonable.
