Seattle Sports: In the Morning

You're gonna want to check out Nate Robinson's tip jam from Saturday night.

Jim Mora withdrew his name from the Redskins coaching search. Jay Glazer of FOX said on yesterday's pre-game show that Mora would've had the job, and that he didn't take it because Mike Holmgren's quitting. We'll see.

Oregon State's loss to Washington Saturday was Jay John's last as Beaver coach. He was fired last night.

Today's MLK hoopfest should be pretty awesome, writes Darren Fessenden of the P-I.

Former MLB umpire Larry Barnett shared a Lou Piniella story at a VA hospital, writes the Brooklyn Eagle's Raymond Aalbue: "One such incident involved Lou Pinella when he was the manager with the Yankees. Barnett was calling balls and strikes and Pinella didn’t agree with one of the calls. 'Where was that pitch at...' Pinella yelled. Barnett told him he wouldn’t answer him because he didn’t end his sentence with a subject. Pinella then rephrased his question, 'Where was that pitch at, stupid.'"

Peter Angelos nixed a 7-for-2 swap that would've sent Eric Bedard and Brian Roberts to the Cubs, reports Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times. Looks less and less likely that Bedard will be traded.

Wazzu beat Oregon for the first time since 2001. Final was 69-60, but Oregon led with 1:20 left.

"While the Huskies haven't crossed off this season, there is a growing sense that bigger things are coming for a program built around Bryan-Amaning and Overton, and supplemented by next year's incoming class, particularly prolific scorers such as Isaiah Thomas and Scott Suggs," writes the P-I's Dan Raley.

P.J. Carlesimo isn't sure how he's going to distribute minutes with Delonte West, Luke Ridnour and Chris Wilcox all healthy, telling Gary Washburn: "What (Delonte) needs is what Luke needs and what (Wilcox) needs, they need to get to know they're going to get 25 minutes and they're going to get to play and get a steady dose of it and play. But it's a tough decision and I honestly don't know what I am going to do."

Sonics play at Houston today at 11:30am. Kevin Durant will be facing one of his idols, Tracy McGrady. He told TNT's Eric D. Williams: "That’s a guy I would like to get to know, just to try to put me underneath his wing and try to help me grow while I’m in the NBA. He’s a great guy to look up to. He’s a terrific player, a Hall of Famer. So I’ve just got to watch him and learn from him."

The NFL is considering having the Hawks play a game in London next October.
