Blazers 92, Sonics 88 [NBA.com]: A brutal game between two teams going in the wrong direction. Neither shot above 40%. The perfect trade for both these teams would be Earl Watson for Martell Webster--the Blazers need a ball-handler who can score, the Sonics need a perimeter threat.
Blazers 29-25, 4.5 GB of 8th playoff spot. Next game tonight @ Seattle.
Sonics 14-39. Next game tonight vs. Portland.
UW 75, Arizona 66 [ESPN]: Don't look now, but if the Dawgs upset ASU Saturday, it's fairly likely they'll be 5th in the conference Monday. UW is only 1/2 game out of the 5th spot, and the teams ahead of them (Cal (@ Stan.), Oregon (@ UCLA), and Arizona (@ Wazzu)) are all likely to lose. Overton was the difference maker against the 'Cats, putting up 19 and holding Jarryd Bayless to 6-19 shooting.
Washington 6-8 in Pac-10, 15-12 overall. RPI: 102. Next game Saturday vs. ASU.
Wazzu 59, ASU 47 [ESPN]: Your typical Cougar win--they slowly strangled their opponent to death. ASU shot 33% and 6-24 from three. Post-game, everyone was talking about Aron Baynes' coast-to-coast dunk.
Wazzu 9-5 in Pac-10, 21-5 overall. RPI: 19. Next game Saturday vs. Arizona.
UCLA 84, Oregon St. 49 [ESPN]: This actually represents an improvement over the last time the Beavers visited Pauley Pavilion, when they lost 82-35. It's now been two months since the Beavers won a game.
Oregon St. 0-14 in Pac-10, 6-19 overall. RPI: 245. Next game Saturday @ USC.
USC 81, Oregon 75 [ESPN]: Another frustrating loss for the Ducks, who led by 13 in the second half. O.J. Mayo had 18 points in the final 8 1/2 minutes, finishing with 32. Of the Ducks' 8 Pac-10 losses, 6 have been in games in which they either led or were within one possession late in the game.
Oregon 6-8 in Pac-10, 15-11 overall. RPI: 53. Next game Saturday @ UCLA.
