Tony Bennett turns down Indiana and Cal...
Bennett talked to Indiana and turned them down. And he won't consider the Cal job because it would be too weird to switch within conferences. This all from ESPN's Andy Katz. But don't rest easy yet, Coug fans...LSU may go after him.
Richie Sexson is living in a fantasy world...
"I want to have a good start," Sexson tells Jim Moore. "Historically, I don't. But I want to put that behind me and try and do well in April if I can. But if I don't, I don't want to panic. I've got a lot of time." Um, no ya don't. I don't think he'll hit .145 like he did last April...but if he does, he's gone. Anyone else hear shades of Shaun Alexander in Sexson's comments?
Cha Baek is a little more realistic...
After the M's signed Silva and Bedard, Baek tells the P-I's John Hickey that: ""I looked at the roster and I thought to myself, 'no room.'" Baek made the team anyway with a great spring.
At the ballpark...
New! Garlic Jim's Pizza, and the "Sea Dog", which is cod stuffed in a bun, writes the P-I's Jon Naito. Huh...could be good.
Tips on getting to the ballpark and buying returned tickets from the P-I's Debera Carlton Harrell.
Sonics lost again...
This team has "a maddening habit of mentally collapsing in the middle of close games," writes the P-I's Gary Washburn.
Washburn also reports that the Kings may not be affording Reggie Theus the respect he deserves as the former coach of Hang Time's Deering High. On a play where Artest was supposed to set a pick: "Point guard Anthony Johnson dribbled the ball for 10 seconds waiting for Artest to set a pick, and Artest waited for an entry pass that never happened. When it was obvious that Artest either did not know the play or had his own agenda, Theus screamed out, "Set the (expletive) pick" at Artest, who never set the pick."
Artest, for his part, was impressed with Jeff Green, telling the Times' Percy Allen: "Green is talented and raw," the Sacramento Kings forward said Sunday. "I wasn't as talented when I first came into the league. I didn't have a three-pointer like he does, and he has a hook shot. I didn't have that. But what sets him apart is his body. He has an NBA body right now...If he keeps working, he and Durant could be neck and neck. Heck, he could be better than Durant."
Gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi was at the game (his first of the year) and reiterated his support for the Key Arena remodel plan that Governor Gregoire never actually took a position on, but certainly didn't support.
