Memphis 85, Texas 67 [ESPN]: Memphis is almost as bad at shooting free throws as the Huskies are--but it doesn't really matter if you beat teams by 20 points.
Kansas 59, Davidson 57 [ESPN]: At some point during the telecast, Len Elmore made the point that Davidson was doing a good job keeping Kansas close. Consensus in our basement was that maybe Kansas ought to be feeling good about having kept Davidson close. This was not a fluke team or a Cinderella--and hopefully they won't go down in history as one. This was a legitimately terrific college team...and to think, Stephen Curry's only a sophomore.
Sacramento 120, Sonics 107 [ESPN]: Active big men and fast point guards destroy the Sonics, and the Kings have both in Ron Artest and Kevin Martin. Artest had 29 points, 12 boards and 4 steals. Martin had 31 points. Durant--another solid game: 25 points on 10/18 shooting. He finishes the month averaging 21.6 ppg on 52% shooting. That's All-Star level performance.
Sonics 17-57. Next game Wednesday vs. LA Clippers.
Washington 6, Oregon St. 4 [GoHuskies]: Down a run in the 6th, the Dawgs scored three runs with two outs to take the lead. The bullpen threw six innings of one-run ball--Elliott Cribby got the save as the Dawgs salvaged a win out of the three-game series.
Washington 1-2 in Pac-10, 17-8 overall. Next game Tuesday vs. Portland.
Oregon St. 2-1 in Pac-10, 13-8 overall. Next game today vs. Portland.
