Look Who Else Has an Injured Closer

The Angels' F-Rod hurt his ankles last week when he slipped on the top step of the dugout, but he didn't think it would be a problem.

Turns out he was wrong. He came in to protect a one run lead yesterday, and...

T Hafner walked.
A Cabrera ran for T Hafner.
V Martinez doubled to right, A Cabrera scored.
D Dellucci ran for V Martinez.
J Peralta doubled to right, D Dellucci scored, J Peralta out at third.
R Garko walked.
S Shields relieved F Rodriguez.

"At this point, I think I need to go on the disabled list," he said after the game.

F-Rod didn't have any power in his legs and couldn't throw strikes with his fastball.

Of course, because God hates us, the Angels came back to win when Torii Hunter hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the inning.

(Torii Hunter. Overpaid? Yes. More home runs and RBI than the entire M's outfield combined? Yes.)

Still, if the Putz injury negated the advantage gained by Lackey and Escobar going down, the wheel of fate has surely swung back in the M's favor...now if they can only swing the bat.
