Clay Bennett--CAUGHT!
The big story is that emails obtained by the city of Seattle show Clay Bennett caught in a lie--not just to Sonics fans, but to David Stern himself. Jim Brunner broke the story. Here's my take.
Sonics fans direct their anger at Howard Schultz, mostly, writes Jayda Evans.
The Seattle Times had superfan Big Lo infiltrate Starbucks HQ (with apologies to Michael Moore) in an attempt to talk to Schultz. Here's the video:
In their loss to the Rockets, the Sonics once again didn't cover a well-known shooter, writes Gary Washburn.
Facing a protest at her campaign kickoff, Governor Gregoire agreed to meet privately with Save Our Sonics.
And, to cap things off, Key Arena got busted for selling booze to minors, writes Jonah Spangenthal-Lee of Slog.
M's win...
Jamie Burke was guessing the pitch on his three-run homer, writes Geoff Baker.
Having lefties Bedard and Washburn throw back-to-back games worked out better than expected, writes John Hickey.
JJ Putz threw, but, perhaps more importantly, sneezed without pain yesterday, writes Baker. Also, Miguel Batista is nice.
In other news...
The Storm drafted guards Allie Quigley of Depaul and Kimberly Beck of GWU.
Tanisha Wright, who's been miscast as a backup point guard (turning into the player Storm fans love to hate in the process), won't have to fill that role anymore, writes Darren Fessenden. Free agents Dee Davis and Kristen O'Neill (my roommate's sister's former roommate (so, roommate-in-law?), yesterday's pick Beck and '07 draftee Brandie Hoskins will battle to back up Sue Bird.
Cameron Dollar didn't get the Sacramento State job, reports Don Ruiz.
Oregon's 6A all-state basketball teams were announced.
Trent Johnson, who was completely unappreciated at Stanford and constantly shadowed--literally--by former coach Mike Montgomery, left for LSU--and points and laughs at Mike Montgomery.
T-Birds goalie Jacob DeSerres had a great game, but he couldn't stop Tri-City's OT power play, writes Jim Riley. After winning the first game of the WHL Western Conference semis, the T-Birds have fallen behind 3-1.
