Pac-10 Baseball Check In

Oregon State had a big weekend series against #23 Arizona, winning two out of three against the Wildcats. It moved the Beavers into third in the Pac-10, and now they're ranked #23. OSU is 8-7 in the Pac-10, 20-14 overall. Next up: Three games at Wazzu.

After winning the first game of their series against UCLA, Washington lost the last two. The rough loss was Saturday, when the Dawgs blew a 3-1 eighth inning lead, in part because of an error on a possible double-play grounder. The losses dropped the Dawgs to eighth place in the Pac-10, though they're only 1.5 back of third place OSU. UW is 5-7 in the Pac-10, 25-16 overall. Next up: Three critical games at USC.

Wazzu took a break from Pac-10 play last weekend, and they needed it. The Cougs, who were ranked earlier this year for the first time since '94, are dead last in the conference. What went wrong? Well, after hitting .321 in non-conference play, the Cougs are hitting just .271 in Pac-10 games. Wazzu is 3-9 in Pac-10 play, 22-19 overall. Next up: Three must-win home games against Oregon State.
