Well that's that. For anyone who was hoping that the Clay Bennett emails would somehow turn David Stern against him, think again.
Stern's apparently hasn't read the emails, or doesn't care to.
I haven't studied them but my sense of it was that Clay, as the managing partner and the driving force of the group, was operating in good faith under the agreement that had been made with [previous owner] Howard Schultz. His straight and narrow path may not have been shared by all of his partners in their views, but Clay was the one that was making policy for the partnership. What Stern said couldn't be more false. As the emails clearly show, Bennett was as pumped about moving the team to OKC as any of his partners.
Sigh.
UPDATE: Via Eric D. Williams of TNT, here's a full transcript of that press conference.

That's disheartening, but really not surprising, though - they're boys. Stern has been actively trying to help Bennett bring a team to Oklahoma City for some time now. Don't ask me why.
Meanhile, Memphis' arena collapses and they get to keep their team. What's up with that?
That dude is weak.
Stern is delusional. I have been to Oklahoma City, my dad has been to Tulsa, I have a friend with family in Tulsa. The cities are two hours apart and have no connection.
To use Memphis as an example, I lived in Memphis and have friends in Nashville. Memphis could care less about the Titans and Nashville could care less about the Grizzlies. The distance is greater, but the theory remains.
Do you think the next generation of NBA fans in Puget Sound is going to root for the Blazers? No, they will root for the bandwagon. That's the way these things work.
