In the proud line that includes Dale Ellis, Koren Robinson, and Warren Moon, it's Lofa Tatupu getting a DUI.
The deets:
The arresting Kirkland police officer wrote that he saw a car driven by Tatupu speeding and changing lanes without signaling. When the officer caught up with him at a restaurant drive-thru he smelled alcohol, but Tatupu said he had not been drinking.Ugh. If you are as sick of reading about local athletes getting DUIs as I am, why not do something about it? I've created a petition that you can sign, which reads thusly:
His car was impounded and Tatupu was taken to the police station where the breath test was conducted.
An arrest report indicates he had breath tests of .155 and .158.
"After sitting idly by as local athletic heroes Dale Ellis, Warren Moon, and now Lofa Tatupu have earned DUI citations, we Seattle sports fans hereby pledge to give rides home to any intoxicated players.
Seriously, guys--call anytime...we won't even charge that much.
(Note--this offer applies to starters on major teams only. Backups and arena footballers, try the bus.)"
Seriously, guys, we need you on the field to fulfill our frustrated athletic dreams. I may not be able to run a 40 in less that five seconds, but I can at least manage to navigate the streets of Kirkland sober.
