Greg Johns of the P-I went through a recent Bennett court filing and found some really fascinating stats about how poor the Sonics' ratings and ticket sales were. Bennett is trying to use this to support his claim that the city won't miss the team if it leaves.
Some of what the deposition says:
Sonics TV Ratings
2004-05: 3.12
2007-08: 1.24
Writes Johns: "The 1.24 rating indicates that out of a potential 1.5 million households in the Seattle market, only 19,000 were watching the Sonics on average. That figure dropped to a low of .59 for an April 4 game against Houston, meaning only 11,700 households were tuned in that Friday night."
The deposition also states that the Sonics sold only 2,933 season tickets last year, down from more than 5,000 in '04. Plus, there was a 28% no-show rate.
The team argues that this shows that fans don't care about the team--obviously the city will argue that people didn't come out because the team sucked...shouldn't be a particularly difficult argument to make.

You should be promoting Monday's Sonics rally more. We need a big turnout to prove that Bennett is lying when he says the people of Seattle don't care about the Sonics.
