Zach Greinke vs. Carlos Silva: I Report, You Decide

After Zach Greinke shut out the White Sox tonight, his ERA is 0.40 for the season.

For Carlos Silva to get his 2009 ERA down to 0.40, he would need to throw 447 consecutive scoreless innings.

The math of it: Silva's already allowed 21 earned runs, he'd need to have pitched the equivalent of 21 complete games just to get his ERA down to one -- 21 more to get it down to 0.50, and another 6 or so to get into Greinke territory.

Greinke becomes the 45th pitcher since 1954 to win his first six starts. One Mariner, surprisingly, is on that list. Even more surprisingly, it's a guy from the pre-Griffey era. Rick Honeycutt won his first six starts for the 1980 M's.
