Let’s Get Bedarded in Here!

Adam Jones tells The Times’ Geoff Baker he’s been traded to Baltimore. I’m assuming it’s not for Guillermo Quiroz.

Here’s Erik Bedard bass fishing in the Great Lakes:

Notes about Bedard. He’s a French Canadian, his name is actually pronounced “BAYdar.” Second “d” is silent.

He’s a fastball, curveball, slider guy. A lefty, he was actually more effective against righties last season, who hit .208 against him. Overall, he allowed hitters a .212 average and struck out 221. Anytime the three digits in your strikeout number are higher than the three digits in your batting average against? Good times.

Here’s his ESPN page.

Like the trade or not, it sure is damned exciting to have a pitcher of this caliber join the rotation.
